Hockey NT Members Pass New Constitution

Published Mon 26 Feb 2024

Hockey Northern Territory (HNT) is pleased to announce that its members have voted to approve a new constitution. The decision came during a Special General Meeting held on Monday, 5th February 2024, highlighting a positive development in HNT's governance.

This update to the constitution was prompted by changes to the Hockey Australia constitution and aimed to modernise HNT's governance framework. Developed from a template recommended by Licensing NT with guidance from Senet Legal, the new constitution represents a practical and necessary update for HNT, aligning it more closely with current best practices.

The approval of the new constitution required a three-quarters majority vote from members present at the SGM. The successful vote reflects the commitment of the HNT community to the organisation’s progression and the sport's development in the region.

Hockey NT's CEO, Jason Butcher, thanked members for their support and participation in the process. "We're grateful to our members for their engagement and for voting in favour of the new constitution. This update is an important step in ensuring that HNT continues to operate effectively in support of our hockey community," Butcher commented.

The adoption and certification of its new constitution marks the start of a more streamlined and updated operational era.

HNT appreciates the involvement of everyone who took part in the review process and the SGM, demonstrating the collective effort of the NT hockey community.
