Published Mon 04 Mar 2024

In an important step forward for hockey in the Northern Territory, Hockey NT (HNT) successfully conducted its own FIH Level 1 Coaching course this weekend, at the MWT Hockey Centre. This initiative marks a significant step towards achieving the strategic objectives outlined in HNT's Strategic Plan, focused on enhancing coaching standards across all levels.

The course, led by FIH Educator, Jason Butcher and HNT's Technical Director Michelle Caden, drew great support from local clubs, highlighting the community's commitment to building a strong coaching foundation in the Territory. This collaborative effort underscores HNT’s focus on enhancing community engagement within the sport.

"Investing in and supporting our coaches directly aligns with Hockey NT's strategic objectives to grow and foster a connected and united hockey community," explains Michelle Caden, HNT Technical Director. "Such efforts are crucial for not only enhancing the skills and knowledge of our coaches but also for ensuring that we can deliver great hockey experiences, thereby increasing the overall number of hockey participants in the NT. This initiative demonstrates our commitment to the continuous improvement of our sport and the well-being of our community."

This endeavour marks a pivotal move towards realising our strategic objectives, aiming to increase the number of accredited coaches and enhance the overall quality of coaching across the Territory.

"Together, we're progressing towards our aim of making hockey more accessible and enjoyable for everyone."

As HNT continues to implement its strategic plan, the success of the FIH Level 1 Coaching course highlights the significant progress being made, indicating a promising future for the sport in the region.
