HNT is pleased to announce charity partnership

Hockey NT is proud to announce its charity partnership with the NT Cancer Council in support of cancer prevention education with a particular focus on SunSmart and skin cancer prevention.

“Hockey participants are familiar with being exposed to the elements. Sun protection is an important part of ensuring our sport provides a vehicle for a healthy and active lifestyle.”

Cancer Council NT provides patient support, prevention education and advocacy for cancer patients and their families across the Northern Territory.

“Every person who attends an event, volunteers on our programs and sponsors our work becomes part of the fabric that supports territory cancer patients down their path to wellness”, said Ms Tanya Izod, Chief Executive Officer - Cancer Council NT.

 Australia has the highest rate of skin cancer in the world. Currently, two in three Australians will be diagnosed with skin cancer in their lifetime. Most skin cancers can be prevented by using all five forms of sun protection. Whenever the UV levels are 3 or above, Australians should Slip on sun protective clothing, Slop on SPF30 or higher, broad-spectrum, water-resistant sunscreen, Slap on a broad-brimmed hat, Seek shade, and Slide on sunglasses.
