Territory Stingers Drive Youth Development through SEDA College NT and Hockey NT Partnership

Hockey Northern Territory (HNT) is excited to announce a new partnership with SEDA College NT, a leading institution recognised for delivering hands-on learning experiences through sport and recreation. This collaboration marks a significant advancement in HNT's ongoing efforts to foster youth development and strengthen community engagement across the Northern Territory.

The partnership will see HNT and SEDA College NT working closely together to merge practical sports education with real-world hockey experiences. SEDA students will benefit from direct involvement with Hockey NT programs, gaining access to elite coaching, hands-on event management, and pathways to careers in the sports industry. Moreover, the integration of the Territory Stingers program and brand into SEDA’s curriculum will facilitate a range of exciting opportunities for students as the Stingers look to build their program into the Southeast Asia and Oceania regions.

Jason Butcher, CEO of Hockey NT, emphasised the importance of this collaboration, stating, "This partnership with SEDA College NT is an important step forward for Hockey NT. Our mission goes beyond just nurturing talent in hockey; it’s about developing future leaders for the entire community. By aligning our vision with SEDA's innovative educational approach, we're providing Territory youth with exceptional opportunities to grow, learn, and succeed. This partnership is not just about sport; it’s about creating a brighter future for our young people and the broader community."

SEDA College NT has built a strong reputation for its student-centred learning model, which combines academic education with practical, real-world experience. Through this partnership, SEDA students will gain hands-on experience in various aspects of hockey, from playing to event organisation, offering them a comprehensive understanding of the sports industry.

Francis Gill, Principal of SEDA College NT, echoed this sentiment, saying, "We are thrilled to partner with Hockey NT and the Territory Stingers to provide our students with such valuable experiences. This partnership aligns perfectly with our educational philosophy and Hockey NT's commitment to community engagement and youth development. Together, we aim to create an environment where students can excel both academically and personally."

“The incorporation of the Territory Stingers brand into the SEDA College NT program is not just a collaboration between sport and education but a catalyst for inspiring the next generation of leaders. As the Stingers look to expand their reach across Southeast Asia and Oceania, this partnership will empower students to be part of a legacy, providing them with hands-on experience and unparalleled opportunities to grow within the hockey community. This is a significant step in building a future where students not only learn the game but actively contribute to its development both locally and globally." Jason Butcher added.

The partnership is set to officially commence in the 2025 school year. For more information about this partnership and the opportunities it presents, please contact Elle Richardson, Hockey NT's Engagement Manager, at elle.richardson@hockeynt.asn.au or visit www.hockeynt.asn.au
