Hockey NT reaches back to its heritage to secure its future. 

Hockey NT is excited to announce Jason Butcher as its new Chief Executive Officer.

Butcher arguably the Territories most successful and storied locally developed coach, started with HNT in the Development Officer role back in 2000 and lead the Territories most recent golden period through his role as NTIS Head Coach between 2003 and 2006. 

After two decades spent away from the Territory, Butcher has held the Technical Director role at Hockey NT for the past 18 months and has also filled the role of interim CEO over the last 4 months. 

He brings to the role extensive knowledge and understanding of hockey and sport from the grassroots to performance levels and has a strong understanding of the culture of hockey in the Territory and the sports challenges and needs.

Butcher’s career includes coaching roles with both the Australian and New Zealand National programs, multiple Institute of Sport Program Manager and High Performance Manager roles and a coaching resume that includes Head Coaching roles across six different franchise teams and 14 x AHL, NHL and Hockey1 seasons in Australia and New Zealand. 

He is a current FIH educator, working closely with the FIH Academy to deliver its global education programs and has an extensive background in sports education delivery from the grassroots to High-Performance levels.
