New Honors at Hockey Northern Territory: Introducing the Hall of Fame and Life Membership Updates

In line with Hockey Northern Territory's (HNT) strategic plan to honour remarkable contributions and achievements in hockey, we are excited to announce the reinvigoration of the Life Membership category and the introduction of a new Hall of Fame category. These announcements will be a highlight of this year’s Annual Awards dinner at the Mindil Beach Casino Resort (Details to be announced shortly – September 2024).

We recognise the importance of our membership in the growth and success of our sport. We particularly appreciate the contributions of those who are not playing members but still provide opportunities and support off the field. We also believe it is crucial to stay connected to those who have made our game great. Our story and heritage are something we are all extremely proud of, and we want to reconnect with those individuals as we embark on creating a new and exciting future.

Brooke Peris becomes most capped First Nations Australian Hockey Player

Territorian Brooke Peris, one of our proudest Australian representatives reached a significant milestone last night by earning her 200th International Cap for the Hockeyroos. This accomplishment solidifies the Territory Stinger’s position among the sport's elite and notably distinguishes her as the sole First Nations Australian to achieve 200 games in either the men's or women's National sides.

Kookaburra Legends add weight to Stingers Resurgence

Hockey Northern Territory (HNT) is excited to announce key coaching appointments for the Territory Stingers for this year’s ‘Festival of Hockey’. Kieran Govers and Michelle Caden have been appointed as the Head Coaches for the Men’s and Women’s teams, respectively, for the event scheduled for Friday 20th and Sunday 22nd of September at the MWT Hockey Centre in Darwin.

A Milestone in Coach Development: Hockey NT's FIH Level 1 Coaching Course

In an important step forward for hockey in the Northern Territory, Hockey NT (HNT) successfully conducted its own FIH Level 1 Coaching course this weekend, at the MWT Hockey Centre. This initiative marks a significant step towards achieving the strategic objectives outlined in HNT's Strategic Plan, focused on enhancing coaching standards across all levels.

Hockey NT Members Pass New Constitution

Territorians selected for the Australian Olympic Indigenous Coaching Scholarship (AOICS).

Hockey NT congratulates Shana Casimiro and Travis Carroll on their selection into the AOICS program.   Hockey Australia has selected 4 First Nations coaches to partake in the Australian Olympic Indigenous Coaching Scholarship (AOICS). two Territorians; Travis Carroll & Shana Casimiro will be involved in the scholarship over the next 12 months, gaining knowledge and experiences to develop their coaching.

Michelle Caden appointed as Technical Director

HNT is pleased to announce the appointment of Michelle Caden into the position of Technical Director in a part time capacity to lead the Futures program, Stingers Academy and Representative team programs. Michelle is the current NT U21 Men’s Head Coach and was an Assistant Coach in the recent Festival of Hockey, she has been a key figure in Hockey NT’s Performance and Development space for some time and is well known to our community as one of the Pearls greatest players.

Hockey NT is proud to announce its charity partnership with the NT Cancer Council in support of cancer prevention education with a particular focus on SunSmart and skin cancer prevention.  Australia has the highest rate of skin cancer in the world. Currently, two in three Australians will be diagnosed with skin cancer in their lifetime.
